We are here for your ongoing health care needs and collaboration, to smooth the road and help you decide what interventions work for YOU and YOUR health goals.
The K-Scope Difference
Ok, but what DO you do?
CONNECTION
COLLABORATION
COMPASSION
We review your medical records, history, labs, imaging studies, and outside consultations. We diagnose, treat, and work together to create an integrative health plan. We work on neurological and hormonal support strategies to optimize your function and well-being.
We’re ready for you, the question is – are YOU ready for you?
We created this space because we wanted to deliver deep care. Healing and thriving doesn’t happen overnight, and healthcare shouldn’t happen in 15 minute increments. Our practice is designed to go deep, understand what is important in life, and help you be the you that you want.
So many times, the active ingredient isn’t a prescription, but it is Time.
Time spent listening and truly hearing you.
Time spent creating a personally tailored plan.
Time to check in however it works for you.
Time reviewing your records, your genes, your microbiome, your hormonal profile, your metabolism, your mobility, your nutrition, your mental health and wellbeing.
Time with your past, present, and future.
Time with You.

We aim to make health care navigable and workable for YOU.
Our Story
Dr. Payne and Dr. Lake first met in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as interns at Lancaster General Family Medicine Residency. Both had extensive travel experience, curious minds, and both loved caring for the full spectrum of people. Rock climbing, ice climbing, travels to Canada and Spain, and eventually marriage all became part of their story.
As they progressed, Dr. Payne gravitated towards Sports Medicine and Dr. Lake towards HIV/Addiction Medicine. Dr. Payne completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Wellspan York Hospital, where she first learned more about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Concurrently, she began volunteering with USA Weightlifting across the country and world. Dr. Payne then started the first Sports Medicine practice in Lancaster County with Lancaster General Health Physicians, growing from 2 physicians at one location to 9 providers at four locations over the past ten years.
Dr. Lake obtained certification in Addiction Medicine as well as completed a Population Health Fellowship with Lancaster General. Dr. Lake practiced as faculty for the LGH Residency, built the Hepatitis C and other clinical pathways, and worked as Medical Director of the HIV Clinic with Lancaster General, responsible for over 1 million dollars in grants to help those suffering from HIV.
This is where things get interesting.
Dr. Lake developed an interest in caring for transgender and genderqueer patients, as well as neurodivergent folks, and continued providing them comprehensive care as well as engaging with the community.
Through time, listening, open-mindedness, and investigations, Dr. Payne allowed patients to tell their stories and share their medical journeys. More often than not, patients fit into the “bucket” or under the “umbrella” of hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) - something seen in families that appears to be heritable, has no clear genetic link, and affects all systems of the body. hEDS is diagnosed clinically, and is treated with supportive management. Management and support continues lifelong; there is no “cure”.
Dr. Lake and Dr. Payne began to notice a pattern - serendipity even - they seemed to be sharing A LOT of patients, despite their seemingly disparate medical spheres of sports medicine and gender/neurodivergent medicine.
Diving into the research, there seems to be a pattern with hypermobility, neurodivergence, and gender spectrums co-occurring more than in the general population. Considering ALL these populations are medically underserved, Dr. Lake and Dr. Payne started putting their heads together.
Dr. Payne started an Integrative Medicine Fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center in Tucson, Arizona, to better understand and treat root causes of disease and help patients self manage chronic medical issues and pain. Dr. Lake started diving into autism assessment training (and dreaming big dreams). They discussed methods of care of the spectrum of humans for which they cared, and an idea was born…
We seek to care for adults on all spectrums
We treasure an ongoing relationship with our patients
We work for equality and advancement of marginalized populations
Please join us in creating your next health care chapter.

Why K-Scope Health?
We provide expert medical consultation and collaboration to cut through the confusion of disjointed care.
We are here to help you regrow your agency, power, and function.
Drs Lake and Payne started in different fields - hypermobility/sports medicine and LGBTQ+ / HIV health - yet they found there were a lot of people who saw both of them. However there was no place that prioritized the space where neurodiversity, hypermobility, and gender diversity overlap. So we decided to create a place just for you.
Complexity isn’t the exception, it is the expectation
You contain multitudes. You deserve a place where you can be fully known and embraced for who you are. While we prescribe medications and provide diagnoses, at Kscope you will always be recognized as a complete human, with nuance beyond a diagnosis.
